Thank you for your interest in removing barriers to create Authentic Access for disabled people.

Authentic Access is our approach to managing the built environment where everyone is able to use services, facilities and buildings in an inclusive manner.

What is Authentic Access?

Authentic Access provides access in the most inclusive way; it is more than providing cumbersome adjustments or equipment that can isolate or make disabled people stand out due to a disability.

Authentic Access enhances a shared environment for everyone to use in an inclusive manner.

Why Authentic Access?

There are 6.9m disabled people of working age in the United Kingdom. Add to this figure elderly people and those with short-term impairments through injury or illness then this figure is nearer 10 million. Put another way, one in four of us have a disability or is close to someone with a disability.

At the moment many companies are working in ways that needlessly exclude or make difficult the way disabled people do business with them. Not only has this has been very frustrating for disabled people but it is now illegal for companies to continue in this way.

picture of children on go cartDisabled people of all ages are now protected in law and have the right to be free from discrimination. The Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) 1995 affects how you run your business and deliver goods, services and facilities. The law requires all businesses, large and small to assess how they meet the needs of their disabled customers - both in person and on-line through their websites.

Proudlock Associates understand the anxieties and questions you might have about these legal changes. We’re here to help you create Authentic Access programmes and help you work towards DDA compliancy.
