What We Do
Access Audits
An Access Audit is often the first step to identifying and removing disabling barriers within your company. A pan disability audit of your building will involve on site observations and a detailed physical inspection of your property. All recommendations for change will be prioritised and cost banded to assist you with the planning and resourcing any adjustments that may be required in moving towards DDA compliancy.
To carry out an audit successfully, the auditor needs to have a comprehensive knowledge of the needs of disabled people and a working knowledge of building construction. Proudlock Associates have in total over 30 years experience.
Ideally, an audit should be carried out when a property is occupied in order to observe the building in use. Both physical features and management are examined, including:
- The external environment
- Entrance and reception area
- Horizontal and vertical circulation
- Toilet and specific facilities
- Controls and equipment
- Communication systems
- Means of escape provisions
- Signage and way finding
- Colour and lighting
- The acoustic environment.
Management issues that are audited include access to information, attitudes of staff and management, management practices, policies and procedures, maintenance issues and the use of the building. Proudlock Associates’ Access Audits are created to provide a user-friendly, detailed assessment, together with recommendations and cost estimates. Plans and diagrams are also provided.
